Maple syrup pecan pie

Try this delicious and homemade maple pecan pie, the sweet and nutty combination of maple and pecan will make your kitchen smell amazing. Enjoy a slice of this decadent treat with your favourite ice cream or whipped cream.


Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup butter

1 egg

1 tablespoon heavy cream

Maple pecan filling

3 eggs

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/8 teaspoon salt

2 cups pecans, chopped


For pastry, in food processor, combine flour, sugar and butter. Pulse until mixture resembles coarse meal. In small bowl, whisk egg with cream, then add to dough until just combined. Do not over-mix. Remove dough, wrap with plastic and chill for at least one hour. Roll and place in greased pie tin, cover with piece of foil weighted down with a few dried beans or pie weights. Bake for 15 minutes at 350°F. Remove from oven and discard foil and beans and let cool.

For filling, in large bowl, mix together all filling ingredients except pecans. Add pecans and pour mixture into the pre-baked pie crust. Bake for 10 minutes at 400°F. Reduce heat to 350°F and bake for 35 minutes or until centre of pie is firm to touch. Serves 12.
