Our Story
Posted on August 24th, 2010 by Mari Loewen
I had a dream to create a beautiful magazine with a unique concept that would inspire readers to make everyday special and bring my love of food and entertaining to life with simple recipes, inspiring quotes and stories, extraordinary photography and exceptional design. A magazine that would be named rather than dated – timeless and collectible.
Although named after my mother, it was my father’s entrepreneurial spirit that taught me anything is possible. So with my home kitchen as a test kitchen and my dining room as a photography studio, ANNA magazine was born. I always say that when you finally find that which you were meant to do, the universe conspires to make it happen. I absolutely believe that to be true.
The concept for ANNA Magazine came from many things. The one defining moment for me came the day I cut my daughter’s toast in the shape of a heart. A simple thing. She loved it! She held it up, touching and admiring. I kept saying to her, heart toast, heart toast… then suddenly she repeated, hot toast. From that day on her breakfast request was hot toast. And I was rewarded with a big smile every time I made it for her.
Today, we have found our way into the hearts and homes of cooks, entertainers and magazine lovers everywhere! Making everyday special is about realizing life is precious; we really must take the time to cut toast in the shape of hearts and light candles at dinner time. Food creates traditions that bind us as family, friends and community. It helps us share with one another and brings meaning to our lives. Cutting toast in the shape of a heart… a simple way to Make Everyday Special. When it comes to ANNA Magazine we simply follow that concept.
I am so thankful to our extraordinary editorial and creative team, our many wonderful subscribers and advertisers. Each of them brings a passion that allows me to live my dream and create a product that will inspire others to do the same.
ANNA Magazine is inspiring, unique and extraordinary. We hope you will agree.
